Dance Production – Thursday Evening April 11, 2024 at 8:00 pm. McVay Center for the Performing Arts
The Principia College Theatre and Dance Department is proud to present its annual spring dance concert at McVay Centre for the Performing Arts. We welcome alumni performers as well as guest choreographers from Houston and St. Louis, with one faculty and nine student choreographers. Artistic Directors Joel and Lizzy Aguilera from a Houston-based company—Mezclada Dance Company—staged their piece Tango on five students; this energetic dance is a contemporary Latin fusion piece that is sure to excite. St. Louis based dance artist and educator Thomas Proctor collaborated with dance faculty and program chair, Erin Lane, on a thrilling finale! Join our cast for a diverse evening of dance, including genres such as Latin fusion, Southeast African, contemporary modern, jazz and hip-hop, tap and musical theatre. Choreographers explore themes of friendship, humanity, community, sisterhood, loss, rebellion, community apathy, musical theatre hits, and traditional cultural dance.
